Time of day
Light-filtering roller fabric: soft, even light and daytime privacy. For a bedroom, choose blackout fabric and side channels.
In short
In guest rooms, fit a blackout roller in the window reveal behind the curtains for total darkness. Use PVC or faux-wood venetians in bathrooms, sunscreen or zebra blinds on lobby and restaurant glass, and simple roller or vertical blinds in offices and staff areas.
What the hotel asks of blinds

We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
In many guest rooms, the most effective way to get complete darkness is not a heavier curtain but a blackout roller blind behind it. Fitted tight inside the window reveal, it stops the light at the glass. The curtain in front then does what curtains do best: soften the room, frame the window and give a sense of comfort.
Specify a slim cassette or a neat top fixing so the blind does not show when the curtains are open. For rooms where light still leaks at the sides, side channels close the gap completely.
Hotel bathrooms with windows need privacy that copes with steam and daily cleaning. PVC and faux-wood venetians are the reliable choice: they tilt for privacy and ventilation, wipe clean, and don't warp. Avoid timber, roman blinds and standard fabric rollers in rooms showered in every morning.
Where a bathroom has a glazed wall onto the bedroom — common in newer hotels — a blind on the bedroom side lets one guest sleep while the other showers. A light-filtering roller or a venetian works; choose the control so it can be reached from the bedroom side.
Large glazed areas in a lobby or restaurant face the sun at some point in the day. Sunscreen roller blinds, in a mesh fabric with a darker colour facing in, cut glare on tables and screens while keeping the outlook. Linked rollers across a run of windows can be lowered together, by hand or by motor.
In business lounges and suites, zebra blinds give finer control — open bands for daylight, closed for privacy — and look tidier than venetians.
Every hotel has rooms guests never see: the general manager's office, sales, accounts, the staff canteen, housekeeping stores. Simple roller or vertical blinds serve them well and keep costs where they matter. We measure these during the same survey so they can be fitted while we are on site.
In Goa
Goan humidity is hard on blind mechanisms and fabric rollers. Choose aluminium headrails and stainless chains for coastal hotels, and polyester or PVC-coated fabrics that dry quickly. In bathrooms, run extractor fans long enough after showers that blinds dry between guests.
During the monsoon, glass doors to balconies are often kept shut and condensation runs down the inside. A blind left lowered against wet glass for days can mark; raising it during the day lets the glass and the fabric dry.
