Hotel Curtains in Goa

In a hotel room, the test is simple: at seven on a sunny morning, with the curtains closed and the lights off, can you see the window? Most can, because of a bright line over the top of a pole, a glow down both sides and a stripe in the middle.

We close those gaps by fixing the track to the ceiling or into a pelmet, extending it well past the frame on both sides with returns that bring the curtain back to the wall, and overlapping the two leading edges at the centre with an overlap arm. Curtains finish just clear of the floor so they don't drag, but not so short that light spills underneath.

A contract curtain is handled by hundreds of strangers a year. Choose a mid-weight woven fabric with a firm hand that holds its folds, in a colour that hides handling marks near the leading edge. Plain, light colours show grubby hand marks within weeks; a mid-tone or a subtle texture does not.

Curtains in hotels are cleaned on a cycle. Ripple-fold headings on snap tapes or simple hook headings come off the track quickly and go back on without a fitter. Avoid hand-pinned pleats that need adjusting every time. Ask whether the lining should be detachable — a separate lining can be washed on a different cycle from the face fabric.

We label each curtain with its room number and position, so a set returned from the laundry goes back where it came from.

Public areas have different needs. Lobby glass usually wants sheers that soften the sun without making the space dim. Restaurants want something that changes with the time of day.
