Living Room · Motorised Curtains & Blinds
When the living room has a double-height window, a six-metre sliding door or curtains you can only reach from a ladder, a motor turns them back into something you actually use every day.

Time of day
Two layers on a double track: the sheer stays drawn for the day, the blackout closes over it at night. The most flexible answer for a bedroom.
In short
Motorise the openings that are too tall, too wide or too heavy to draw by hand — typically the main glass wall of a villa living room. Plan a power point at the track position before plastering, choose a motor with a manual override for power cuts, and use aluminium tracks with sealed fittings near the sea.

We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
Not every window needs a motor. In a typical villa living room, one or two openings justify it: the tall glass wall facing the pool or the sea, and perhaps a high window that throws glare onto the sofa. Ordinary-height windows that you pass every day are often fine drawn by hand.
A useful test: if a curtain has stayed in the same position for more than a week because it's awkward to move, it's a candidate. So is any curtain wider than you can comfortably draw in one walk.
The cleanest installations are planned before the walls are finished. A motor needs a power point close to one end of the track — usually hidden in the ceiling or a pelmet — and, if you want a wall switch, a cable run to it. Once the plaster and paint are done, the options narrow to surface conduit or battery-powered blinds.
If you are renovating, bring us in when the electrician is first on site. We'll mark the motor end of each track so the points go in the right place, and agree where switches sit so they're beside the door you actually use.
Most households end up using a simple wall switch and a remote far more than any app. Scheduling is the feature that earns its keep in Goa: closing the sun-side curtains through the hottest hours, and opening them at a set time when the house is let or empty so it doesn't look shut up.
If the house already has a home-automation system, motors can usually be integrated with it; tell us what you have when we visit.
Motors like fabric that hangs evenly. A ripple-fold or wave heading on carriers is the best match, because the folds are fixed and the curtain stacks the same way every time. Very heavy unlined velvets and stiff fabrics strain the motor and look lumpy when gathered.
Layered schemes work well: a sheer on one motorised track and a lined curtain on another, each controlled separately — sheers closed at midday, lined curtains closed at dusk.
In Goa
In sea-facing homes, the track and brackets matter as much as the motor. Specify aluminium profiles and stainless or coated fittings, and keep the motor end away from the side of the window that takes driven rain when the doors are open.
Ask for motors that can be drawn by hand when the power goes, or battery-powered blinds on high windows that don't depend on the mains. For holiday homes, a schedule that moves the curtains while you're away helps air the fabric and makes the house look lived in.

FAQ
For tall glass walls, wide sliding doors and windows you can't reach easily, yes — they get used properly and the fabric lasts longer because it isn't pulled by hand. For ordinary windows, a manual track is usually enough.
It depends on the motor. Many track motors let you draw the curtain by hand when the power is off, and battery blinds keep working. We'll recommend options that suit how often your area loses power.
Often, if the fabric and heading can be adapted to a motorised track. We'll check the curtains, the ceiling and the nearest power point during the visit.
No. A remote alone works, and schedules run without any switch. A switch is convenient for guests and older family members, so many people add one.
Yes. We mark the motor positions and power requirements so your electrician can run the points, then we fit and set up the tracks and motors.
