Villa · Motorised Curtains & Blinds
Not a gadget for its own sake: motorisation in a holiday villa solves reach, makes an empty house look lived in, and lets the curtains open on dry mornings while you are a thousand kilometres away.

Sheer + blackout · Midday
Treatment
Time of day
Two layers on a double track: the sheer stays drawn for the day, the blackout closes over it at night. The most flexible answer for a bedroom.
In short
Motorise the openings that are hard to reach or used every day — tall living-room glass, wide pool doors and the main bedroom — and leave small windows manual. Ask for a motor with a manual override, plan a power point at the track before the walls are finished, and put the motors on your inverter so a power cut doesn't leave the curtains stuck half-open.
What your villa asks of motorised curtains & blinds

We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
Be selective. In a typical three- or four-bedroom villa the openings that justify a motor are the tall living-room glass, any pool door wider than a couple of metres, and perhaps the owner's bedroom so the curtains can be closed from bed. Bathroom and kitchen windows almost never need one.
A good test: if you would need a pole, a stool or a second person to draw it, motorise it. If a child could draw it easily, don't.
Wired motors are the most reliable and need a power point at the head of the track, ideally hidden behind a pelmet or in the false ceiling. Battery motors suit a villa that is already finished, but someone has to remember to charge them — not ideal in a house that is often empty.
Goa's power cuts are the practical concern. Put the motor circuits on the villa's inverter, and choose motors whose curtains can still be pulled by hand if all else fails. A guest stuck with a closed bedroom curtain at noon is not the impression you want.
A simple timer is the most useful feature for a second home. Open the living-room curtains at eight, close them at sunset, and the villa looks lived in from the road. In the monsoon, opening them on dry mornings lets the fabric and glass dry out.
If the villa has Wi-Fi, an app lets you check and change things from abroad. If it doesn't, a standalone timer at the motor still works — and is one less thing to go wrong.
In Goa
Motors live inside sealed housings and cope well with humidity, but the brackets, track ends and screws around them are exposed. In villas close to the sea, specify aluminium tracks and stainless or coated fixings, and have the track wiped and checked when the house is opened after the rains.
If curtains on a motorised track will come down for the monsoon, leave the track and motor in place and simply unhook the fabric; the motor is not affected by sitting idle for a few months.

FAQ
For tall glass, wide pool doors and a villa that stands empty for part of the year, yes. For small windows they rarely are. Most villas motorise two or three openings, not all of them.
If the motors are on the villa's inverter, nothing — they keep working. Without that, choose a motor that lets you draw the curtain by hand when the power is off.
Yes, if the villa has Wi-Fi and the motors are connected to it. A simple built-in timer also works without Wi-Fi and is enough for most second homes.
Usually. Battery motors need no wiring; wired motors need a power point near the track, which can often be run with minimal disruption. We check on the measuring visit.
