Time of day
Two layers on a double track: the sheer stays drawn for the day, the blackout closes over it at night. The most flexible answer for a bedroom.
In short
A motorised track or blind in the bedroom is worth it if you want to wake to daylight, close blackout curtains without getting up, or keep the room shaded on a schedule. A quiet track motor with a remote and a wall switch suits most bedrooms; plan a power point near the window before the walls are painted.

We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
The difference is less about luxury and more about habit. Blackout curtains that are hard to reach — behind a bed, over a desk, on a tall window — tend to stay half-open or permanently closed. On a motor, they open every morning and close every night, which is better for the fabric and for the room's air.
Timers also help in a Goan bedroom that is empty all day. Closing the west window from midday and opening it again at sunset keeps heat out of the room and lets it air in the cooler evening.
Track motors need a power point close to one end of the track, ideally at ceiling or high-wall level and hidden by the curtain. In a room being built or renovated, ask your electrician for this now; adding it later means chasing the wall.
Battery-powered blind motors are recharged from time to time and need no new wiring, which makes them practical in a rented flat or a finished room. Plug-in motors with a neat cable to a nearby socket are a middle path.
A small remote on the bedside table and a wall switch by the door cover most needs. App control and voice control are options if the house already uses them, but they should never be the only way to open a curtain. Keep the control simple enough for a guest or a grandparent to use without instructions.
For a single small window you open by hand without thinking, probably not. For a wide sliding door to a balcony, a high window, a bed against the glass, or someone with limited mobility, yes — and it is easier to wire now than to wish later. We will tell you honestly which windows benefit.
In Goa
Near the coast, choose aluminium tracks with sealed motors, and keep the motor end away from a window that is left open in the rain. In the monsoon, run the curtains fully open and closed every few days even if you are not using the room; moving parts and fabric both stay healthier.
During a power cut, a motorised track can usually be drawn gently by hand; avoid yanking the fabric. If your house has an inverter, it is worth asking your electrician to put the curtain circuit on it.

FAQ
Good bedroom motors are quiet — a soft hum while they move. We set a slower speed for bedrooms so the curtain glides rather than whips across.
Most track systems can be drawn gently by hand when the power is off. Battery blinds keep working until the battery needs charging.
Often, yes, if the fabric and heading suit a track. We look at the curtains on our visit and tell you whether they can be re-hung on a motorised track or need a new heading.
For a track motor, a power point near the window is the neatest solution. Battery-powered blinds and plug-in motors avoid new wiring.
