Hall · Wall Panels
In a big hall, one well-chosen panelled wall gives the room a centre — behind the television, around the home altar or facing the front door — and can hide the stains and cracks a Goan wall picks up over the years.

In short
Panel the one wall the hall is arranged around, not every wall. For a TV wall, a fluted or WPC panel with a concealed cable channel works well; around an altar, a calm wooden-look or moulded panel; near the entrance, a hard-wearing PVC or WPC that wipes clean. On damp external walls, treat the damp first and use moisture-resistant panels on a ventilated frame.
What your hall asks of wall panels

We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
Stand at the front door and then sit on the sofa. The wall you look at from both points is usually the right one — in most flats the TV wall, in many older houses the wall opposite the entrance where the altar or family photographs hang. Panelling a wall that is mostly doors or windows wastes the effort; panelling every wall makes a big room feel boxed in.
In a long hall used for both sitting and dining, a panelled wall can also divide the room visually: panels on the sitting end, plain paint or wallpaper on the dining end.
Decide on the television size and its height before the panels are made. The screen centre normally sits around eye level when seated, and the panels need a recessed or removable section behind it for brackets and cables. Plan sockets, the set-top box and any speaker wiring at the same time, so nothing has to be cut into a finished panel later.
Backlighting behind a TV panel looks good in the evening and reduces eye strain in a dark room. Keep the lighting strip and its driver accessible, and remember that during a power cut on inverter supply you may prefer it on a separate switch.
Many Goan halls have a home altar, an oratory niche or a puja corner. Panels around it should be quiet in colour and texture so the altar remains the focus. A simple moulded frame or a soft wood-look panel works; strongly patterned 3D panels compete with it. If lamps or diyas are lit regularly, keep panels a safe distance from the flame and choose a finish that wipes clean of soot.
Interior walls away from the weather can take wooden panels, veneers or MDF-based designs. External walls, and any wall that has ever shown damp, need moisture-resistant materials — WPC or PVC — fixed on battens with an air gap so the wall can still breathe. Charcoal and 3D panels are decorative choices for a feature wall; they look striking under directional light but are harder to keep dust-free in a busy hall.
In Goa
Laterite walls and old lime plaster draw moisture through the monsoon, and the hall's front wall usually takes the worst of the rain. Covering an actively damp wall with panels hides the problem while it gets worse behind them. We look at the wall on the visit; if it is damp, it needs repair and time to dry before anything is fixed to it.
On walls that are sound but seasonal, a ventilated batten frame and moisture-resistant panels leave a gap for air, so the wall can dry out between rains rather than trapping moisture against the plaster.

FAQ
For walls that may see damp, WPC or PVC on a ventilated frame. For dry interior walls, wooden, fluted or moulded panels give a richer finish. The right one depends on the wall as much as the look.
Yes. A TV wall panel is designed with a channel or removable section behind the screen so cables, the set-top box and speaker wires stay hidden but reachable.
Not on one that is actively damp. The damp needs fixing first. On sound walls that only get seasonal moisture, use moisture-resistant panels on battens with an air gap.
Classic wall moulding painted with the wall suits them very well and respects the character of the house. Strongly modern panels can look out of place in a traditional sala.
