Apartment curtains have one job above all others: keeping the neighbours' view out without shutting your own light out. Everything else follows from that.

Time of day
A lining protects the face fabric from sun and salt, and makes the curtain properly private at night.
In short
In most Goan flats, a day-and-night pair works best: a sheer or semi-sheer that gives privacy by day, and a lined or blackout curtain for evenings and bedrooms. Hang from a ceiling track where the beam allows, run the track past the sliding window on both sides, and for a rental keep the fittings simple and the fabric washable.
What your flat asks of curtains

We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
Flat windows tend to be one of a few builder sizes, but measure your own rather than assuming. Run the track or rod at least a hand's width past the frame on each side so open curtains stack on the wall, not over the sliding glass. With a beam or loft just above the window, fixing the track to the underside of the beam often gives a cleaner line than a rod squeezed beneath it.
For length, go to just above the floor in living rooms. In bedrooms where a bed or desk sits under the window, a sill-length curtain or a blind may be more practical.
Test the sheer you are considering against your own window at dusk, with a light on inside. Some sheers that look private at noon become transparent the moment the room is brighter than the street. For flats facing another block at close range, choose a semi-sheer or a sheer with a slightly denser weave.
At night, only a lined or blackout curtain gives full privacy. In a living room facing the building opposite, a sheer and a lined curtain on a double fitting is usually the answer.
If the landlord does not want new holes, reuse existing brackets where possible, or fit a tension rod inside the window recess for smaller windows. Eyelet curtains on a standard rod are the easiest to put up and take with you.
If you own the flat and let it out, choose durable, machine-washable fabrics in neutral colours, and fit proper tracks once — tenants are kinder to a good track than to a rod that wobbles. Keep a spare set for quick changeovers between lets.
Ground and first-floor flats are closer to the street, darker and often damper, so they need privacy more and light-blocking less; a pale semi-sheer and a light lining work well. Upper floors catch more sun and wind and are less overlooked, so the focus shifts to glare and heat — a lined or blackout curtain on the west side, sheers elsewhere.
In Goa
Lower-floor flats in Goa often have one wall that stays damp through the monsoon. Hang curtains a little away from that wall, open them on dry days, and choose a lining that breathes. If you find black spots on a curtain's back in August, the wall is the cause.
In sea-facing flats in Dona Paula, Miramar or Caranzalem, salt settles on window frames and fittings. Ask for an aluminium track rather than a painted steel rod, and wipe the frame down after the monsoon.

FAQ
A semi-sheer for daytime privacy plus a lined or blackout curtain for evenings and bedrooms. Choose washable, breathable fabrics and fit the track wide enough to clear the sliding window.
For smaller windows, a tension rod inside the recess often works. On larger windows, reusing the existing brackets is usually the best option; we'll look at what's already there.
Only a lined or blackout curtain gives full night-time privacy. A sheer alone will show the room once your lights are on.
We make every curtain to measure. Flat windows are often similar in size, but small differences in the beam and frame matter, so we always measure on the visit.
Yes. We'll suggest durable, washable fabrics and sturdy tracks that stand up to changing tenants.
