Something soft to step onto in the morning, instead of cold tiles or polished stone — and a rug that pulls the bed, the curtains and the walls together.

In a sitting area, the front legs of every sofa and chair should rest on the rug, with a margin of bare floor around it. We confirm the size on site, against the real furniture.
In short
For most bedrooms in Goa, place a rug that extends 45 to 60 centimetres beyond the sides and foot of the bed, so your feet land on it. Choose flatweaves, dhurries or a low-pile wool or cotton blend that can be aired and shaken in the monsoon. Leave thick shag and deep-pile rugs for the drier months or air-conditioned rooms only.

We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
Three layouts work. A large rug under the whole bed and bedside tables is the most generous and needs a bigger room. A rug under the lower two-thirds of the bed, stopping short of the bedside tables, is the most common. Two runners — one either side of the bed — suit narrow bedrooms where a big rug would collide with the wardrobe.
For a queen bed, a rug of about 170 × 240 cm under the lower part usually works; for a king, about 200 × 300 cm. We check door swings and wardrobe clearance before suggesting a size.
Cotton dhurries and flatweaves are the most practical in Goa: they breathe, dry fast and can be washed. Wool is soft and naturally resilient, and a low-pile wool rug is lovely in an AC bedroom. Jute and sisal feel good but stain with water and can smell in humidity, so keep them for dry rooms.
Very thick shag and deep piles look cosy but hold moisture through the monsoon and attract dust and sand. If you want one, plan to roll it up from June to September.
A rug grounds the bed. Pick one colour from the curtains or the headboard and let the rug carry it. Busy patterned rugs suit a bedroom with plain curtains and walls; if the wallpaper is patterned, a plain or textured rug is calmer.
On smooth tile or marble, a rug needs an anti-slip underlay, especially if children or older people use the room. The underlay also lets air pass under the rug and helps it dry.
In Goa
In the monsoon, lift the rug every couple of weeks and let the floor and the underside dry. Thick rugs in a closed room smell first. If the house is left empty for the rains, roll rugs around a tube, wrap them in breathable cotton and store them off the floor.
After the monsoon, a good shake and a sunny day outside do more for a bedroom rug than any spray.

FAQ
One that extends 45–60 cm beyond the sides and foot of the bed. For a queen, around 170 × 240 cm under the lower two-thirds; for a king, around 200 × 300 cm.
Cotton dhurries and flatweaves for year-round use, or a low-pile wool rug in an air-conditioned room. Avoid jute and deep shag where humidity is high.
Flatweaves can stay down if lifted and aired regularly. Thick rugs are best rolled and stored dry if the room isn't air-conditioned.
Yes. We can source or make rugs to fit your room, including runners for each side of the bed.
Yes, and it helps: a rug takes the chill off a stone or tile floor when the AC has been running. Use an anti-slip underlay on smooth floors so it stays put when you get up in the dark.
