Outdoor curtains that turn an open balcony into a shaded room in the afternoon and a private one in the evening — made to get wet, dry out and stay on their track in a sea wind.

Time of day
Softens glare and keeps the view by day. After dark, with lamps on, a sheer on its own hides almost nothing — pair it with a lined curtain for the night.
In short
On a Goan balcony, use an outdoor fabric — solution-dyed acrylic or a coated outdoor canvas — rather than anything sold for indoors. Hang it from an aluminium or stainless track fixed to the slab, add tie-backs or a bottom tether for windy days, and plan to take it in or tie it tight for the heaviest monsoon weeks.
What your balcony asks of curtains

We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
The single decision that makes balcony curtains last is the fabric. Indoor cotton, linen and most polyester blends will take on water, stay damp in the humid air, and grow mildew spots along the hem by August. Outdoor fabrics are woven and finished to shed water and dry in the open; good ones also resist UV, so the colour holds.
Choose a mid-tone rather than pure white (which shows the monsoon grime) or a deep colour (which shows the sun). Sand, stone, sage and soft grey all look right against laterite, lime-wash or a painted railing.
A balcony curtain hangs from the ceiling slab, not from above a window. That means the track needs secure fixings into concrete, set back from the crumbling front edge of the slab, and long enough to reach from wall to post. We fit aluminium tracks with stainless fixings so nothing rusts against the fabric.
On the open side, a fixed rod or wire at the bottom — or tie-backs anchored to the wall or a pillar — stops the curtain from billowing out over the railing. On a high-rise flat balcony this is a safety point as well as a tidy one.
Most balconies do not need curtains on every open edge. Find the side the afternoon sun comes from and put the heaviest shade there; keep the view side light or open. A single panel on the west, drawn from about three o'clock, often turns an unusable balcony into the best seat in the house.
Where privacy is the problem rather than sun — a balcony looking straight into the next building — a sheer outdoor panel on that side gives cover by day without making the space feel enclosed.
Curtains suit balconies with a ceiling to hang from and room to stack the fabric. If the balcony is narrow, has no overhang, or catches the full force of the wind, an outdoor roller or chik blind fixed tight with side channels, or a proper awning, will cope better. Many balconies end up with a blind on the weather side and a curtain on the sheltered one.
In Goa
In late May, look at your balcony curtains honestly. On an exposed, sea-facing balcony, even outdoor fabric is better tied tight against the wall or taken in for the worst of June and July, when the rain arrives sideways for days. On a deep, covered balcony, they can usually stay up if they're tethered.
If the house is shut for the monsoon, take them down, wash off the salt and dust, let them dry fully and store them indoors. Our monsoon take-down service will do this for you if you're away.

FAQ
An outdoor fabric — solution-dyed acrylic or a coated outdoor canvas. Both shed rain, dry quickly and keep their colour in strong sun. Indoor fabrics will mildew and fade on an exposed balcony.
On a deep, covered balcony, usually yes, tied back or tethered. On an exposed one, take them in or tie them tight against the wall for the heaviest weeks; driving rain and wind will wear even outdoor fabric.
Yes. Shading the balcony stops the sun reaching the glass of the door or window behind it, which is more effective than a curtain inside the room.
Tie-backs anchored to the wall or a pillar, a weighted hem, or a bottom rod or wire on the open side. We plan the fixing for the wind your balcony actually gets.
Yes. We look at the overhang, the sun and the fixings, bring outdoor fabric samples to see in your light, and give you a written quote.
