Balcony · Sofas
A small sofa on the balcony gets used more than any chair in the house — as long as it doesn't go mouldy in the monsoon or bake in the afternoon sun.

Avoid: Anything you cannot clean in place, on a piece used every day. Rub count is one number among several — weave, colour-fastness and how a fabric handles humidity matter as much. We bring samples to see in your room.
In short
For a Goan balcony, choose a compact sofa or bench with a frame that tolerates damp — powder-coated aluminium, treated hardwood or synthetic rattan — and cushions in outdoor fabric over quick-dry foam with removable covers. Measure the depth carefully: balconies are narrower than they look once a sofa is in.
What your balcony asks of sofas
See it in your balcony
We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
Measure the clear depth from the wall to the railing and the width between the door and the far end. Leave at least enough room to walk past the sofa with a cup in your hand. On many apartment balconies the answer is a two-seater with shallow arms, or a bench built to the exact length of the wall.
Check how the sofa will reach the balcony. Doors to balconies are often narrower than the front door, and a sofa that cannot be tilted through will not get there.
The cushion matters more than the frame. Use quick-dry or reticulated foam, which lets water drain through, wrapped in an outdoor fabric — solution-dyed acrylic is the most fade-resistant. Zipped covers let you take them off, wash out the monsoon grime and dry them in the sun.
Choose a mid-tone colour or a small pattern. White shows every speck of dust blown in from the road; very dark colours get hot to sit on in direct sun.
On a glazed balcony or one with a deep overhang, a small indoor-style sofa in a durable fabric can work — it is effectively a room. On a partly open balcony, use an outdoor frame with outdoor cushions. On a fully open balcony or terrace, assume everything will get wet and choose accordingly.
The easiest way to keep balcony cushions fresh through the monsoon is to bring them in during heavy rain. A storage bench with a ventilated lid or a dry cupboard nearby helps. Frames can stay out if they are aluminium or synthetic; timber benefits from a cover and a dry corner.
In Goa
On a Goan balcony, cushions can mildew even when they never get rained on: the air itself is damp from June to September. Lift cushions on end on dry days, let air reach both faces, and keep them off the floor where water collects.
Near the coast, wipe aluminium and synthetic frames with fresh water now and then to clear salt; treated timber benefits from a coat of oil before the monsoon.

On a glazed balcony or one with a deep overhang, yes, in a durable fabric. On an open balcony, an indoor fabric sofa will mildew and fade; use outdoor upholstery instead.
Yes. We make cushions to measure in outdoor fabrics and quick-dry foam for existing benches, swings and built-in seats.
Use quick-dry foam and outdoor fabric, stand cushions on end on dry days, bring them in during heavy rain and wash the covers after the monsoon.
Yes. A bench or slim sofa built to the exact length and depth of the balcony often works better than anything off the shelf.
