Balcony · Mosquito Nets
The balcony door is where the evening comes in — breeze, birdsong and, from dusk, mosquitoes. A good net lets you keep it open.

Setting
System
Pleated screen, side-opening
Mesh
Coated fibreglass or polyester mesh
Frame
Powder-coated aluminium, stainless fixings
Pleated mesh folds into a slim stack, so a wide opening needs no heavy panel and no bottom lip to trip on. Near the sea, plain steel screws and untreated mesh corrode within a season or two. Rinse mesh and track with fresh water after the monsoon.
In short
For most balconies, net the door rather than the whole balcony: a sliding net on an aluminium frame for a sliding door, or a pleated net for a hinged or wide door. Where you want to sit out in the evening without bites, the balcony itself can be enclosed with framed mesh panels — but check your building's rules first.
What your balcony asks of mosquito nets

We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
Netting the door protects the room behind it; netting the balcony protects the balcony as well. If you mainly want to sleep or work with the door open, a door net is simpler and less visible. If you want to sit out on the balcony after dark, you need the balcony enclosed.
Enclosing a balcony means framed mesh panels on the open sides, with a net door if the balcony leads anywhere. Flats in a housing society should check the rules first; independent homes usually have more freedom.
A sliding glass door suits a sliding net on a parallel track, so the glass and net open independently. A hinged single or double door suits a pleated net, which concertinas into a slim frame at the side and leaves an almost flat threshold — easier for children, the elderly and anyone carrying a tray.
On older houses with timber French doors, a framed net door hung inside the opening often fits more gracefully than anything that slides.
Charcoal or black mesh is the least visible from inside; you look through it rather than at it. Grey and white meshes show more. Fibreglass and polyester meshes are the usual choices; both handle humidity, though mesh in direct sun will eventually go brittle and is worth replacing rather than patching.
Ask for a mesh fine enough for mosquitoes but no finer — the denser it is, the less breeze reaches the room.
Mosquitoes find gaps, not holes. Most failing balcony nets let insects in along a warped frame, at the bottom track, or where the net meets an uneven wall. A good fitting uses brush seals at the edges and a frame cut to the actual opening, not the nominal size.
In Goa
Mosquito numbers climb with the monsoon and stay high into October, but in Goa there are bites most evenings of the year. Nets that work in July need to work in February, so build them to last rather than as a seasonal fix.
Near the coast, rinse sliding tracks and frames occasionally to clear salt and sand; a gritty track is the first reason a balcony net stops sliding properly.

FAQ
A sliding net for a sliding door, and a pleated net for a hinged or wide door. Both should be made to measure on an aluminium frame so there are no gaps along the edges.
Yes. We fit framed mesh panels across the open sides with a net door where needed. In a flat, check your society's rules on the outer face of the building first.
A little. A well-chosen mesh keeps out mosquitoes while letting most of the air through; very fine or dense meshes cut more breeze.
Aluminium frames and stainless or nylon runners don't. Mild steel does, which is why we don't use it for balcony nets near the coast.
Often, yes. If the frame is sound, we can replace the torn or brittle mesh rather than the whole net.
