Time of day
Glows with daylight and gives real daytime privacy. After dark, silhouettes can still show through unlined linen.
In short
Use washable linen-look sheers to filter sun on window tables, heavier lined curtains to soften acoustics and divide private-dining areas, and outdoor-rated drop curtains on verandas. Keep all fabric well away from the kitchen, specify fire-retardant fabric, and choose headings that come down easily for cleaning.
What your restaurant or café asks of curtains

We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
Most noise complaints in restaurants come from hard surfaces. A wall of full-length, generously gathered curtains — even in front of a wall with no window behind it — absorbs a real share of the noise and gives the room a softer, more intimate feel. Heavier fabrics and a lining absorb more than a single sheer.
Where the room is very loud, combine curtains with acoustic wall panels and upholstered seating. Each helps; together they change how the room feels at nine on a Saturday.
On the coast, the most valuable tables face the sunset — and for an hour before it, diners can't look up. A sheer that can be drawn across for that hour cuts the glare and the heat on the table while keeping the view as a soft silhouette. Draw it back the moment the sun touches the horizon.
For very wide openings, consider sunscreen roller blinds instead; see our restaurant blinds page.
A ceiling-fixed track with a full-height curtain is the simplest way to create a private dining area without building a wall. Choose a fabric dense enough to give a sense of separation, wide enough to stack neatly against a wall when open, and a heading that runs smoothly so staff can close it in seconds.
Plan where the curtain lives when it is open. A stack pocket or a short return against the wall hides it completely, so the dining room looks whole on a normal night. If the private area has its own window, give it a sheer as well, so the group doesn't feel shut in a box.
Restaurant curtains collect cooking smells and greasy air. Choose washable fabrics and headings — eyelets, ripple-fold on snap tape, or simple hooks — that make taking curtains down a five-minute job. Plan a cleaning cycle with your team, more often for curtains near the kitchen pass.
Keep fabric well clear of open kitchens, tandoors, grills and table candles, and specify fire-retardant fabrics for the dining room. Ask us for the supporting documentation.
In Goa
Many Goan restaurants seat diners on a veranda. Outdoor drop curtains in an outdoor-rated fabric can shelter those tables from wind and light rain, but they must be tied back or taken down in monsoon storms. Indoor fabrics hung outside will mildew and fade within a season.
Near the beach, use aluminium tracks and stainless fittings; steel rusts quickly in salt air and stains fabric.
