Bungalow · Curtains
Curtaining a bungalow is less about one perfect window and more about twenty windows that work together — each one right for its side of the house.

Sheer + blackout · Midday

Time of day
Two layers on a double track: the sheer stays drawn for the day, the blackout closes over it at night. The most flexible answer for a bedroom.
In short
Plan a bungalow by orientation: blackout or lined curtains in east-facing bedrooms, lined or layered curtains on the west, sheers where the garden is the view. Keep to one or two fabric families and the same track throughout so the house reads as one. Run full-height curtains on garden doors so they stack clear of the opening.
What your bungalow asks of curtains

We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
Walk the house at two times of day — mid-morning and late afternoon — and note where the sun is hitting the glass. In Goa the west light is the harshest, and it lands on whichever rooms face that way, whether bedroom, kitchen or sitting room. Those rooms get lined curtains. East bedrooms get blackout. North-facing rooms can often have sheers alone.
Writing the plan down, room by room, also makes it possible to phase the work: bedrooms and west rooms first, the rest later.
Garden doors are used constantly in a bungalow. The curtain track should extend well beyond the door frame so the fabric stacks against the wall, and a ripple-fold or pinch-pleat heading keeps the stack narrow. Make the curtains just clear the floor; they will be brushed by feet and pets coming in from the garden.
On a verandah, use outdoor fabrics or chik blinds rather than indoor curtains. A curtain on the inside of the door can then stay light.
Pick one main fabric for most of the house — often a linen or linen-look weave in a warm neutral — and a second, heavier one for the bedrooms. Add colour through one or two rooms, not all of them. This keeps the house calm and means that if one room's curtains fade or are damaged, matching them is straightforward.
Many Goan bungalows built a few decades ago have timber casement windows that open inward, and sometimes iron grilles. Curtains must clear the opening casement — a track fixed higher and wider than the frame, or a rod on brackets that stand off the wall. Plaster on older walls can be soft, so fixings need to go into sound masonry.
In Goa
A bungalow's ground-floor rooms take the monsoon damp more than a flat on the fourth floor. Garden-side curtains pick up splashes and humidity; keep them clear of the floor and open them on dry days. If the bungalow is shut for the monsoon, have curtains taken down and stored dry.
Near the coast, ask for aluminium tracks and stainless fittings throughout, especially on the seaward side.

FAQ
Plan room by room by orientation, choose one or two fabric families for the whole house, and use the same track style throughout. We do this on the home visit.
Full-height curtains on a track that runs past the door frame so they stack clear of the opening. A ripple-fold heading keeps the stack slim.
Usually outdoor fabrics or chik blinds rather than indoor curtains, which mildew and fade in the open air.
Yes. We can quote the whole house and fit the most important rooms first — usually the bedrooms and the west-facing living spaces.
Not the same, but related. One main fabric family and one track style keep the house consistent, while each room gets the weight of curtain its orientation needs.
Yes, across North and South Goa. We bring samples, measure every opening and give a written quote.
