Villa · Wallpaper
Wallpaper can give a villa bedroom or powder room real personality. In Goa it only lasts if it's on the right wall, of the right material, and the wall behind it is dry.

In short
In a villa, put wallpaper on inside walls that stay dry — bedheads, dining walls, powder rooms with an extractor — and keep it off outside walls that get damp in the monsoon. Choose washable vinyl or breathable non-woven papers, have the wall checked and primed properly, and plan for the months the villa is closed.

The best villa walls for paper are interior partitions on the upper floor: behind the beds, along a corridor, or the dining wall that's furthest from the garden. These walls are the least likely to see moisture and the most likely to be noticed.
Powder rooms are a favourite — small enough for a bold pattern, and guests remember them. They need a working extractor fan and a wall that doesn't back onto a shower.
Vinyl-coated and solid vinyl papers are the most forgiving: they wipe clean and resist splashes. Non-woven papers breathe better and are easier to strip later; they suit walls where a little moisture movement is possible.
Grasscloth, silk and uncoated papers are beautiful but they mark, fade and grow mould easily in Goan conditions. In a busy villa, save them for a room the owner keeps locked.
Most wallpaper failures in Goa are wall failures. The plaster must be dry, sound and primed with a suitable sealer; any patch of efflorescence or flaking paint needs treating first.
Ask for the paper to be hung after the monsoon, not during it — the wall needs time to dry out, and adhesive bonds better in drier air.
Botanical prints, soft stripes and textured plains sit well with the light, the greenery outside and the lime-washed walls most villas have. They also date more slowly than a bold geometric chosen for a single season.
If the villa is let, think about photographs: a single memorable wall — a palm print behind a bed, a deep colour in the powder room — gives the listing a picture people recognise, without making every room loud.
In Goa
A villa that is closed through the rains can reach very high humidity inside. Leave internal doors open, keep the extractor in the powder room running if the power allows, and ask the caretaker to air the villa on dry days. Papered walls benefit from moving air more than any other surface.
Check corners and seams when the villa reopens. A lifting seam caught early can be re-stuck; left through another season, it lets damp in behind the paper.

FAQ
Yes, on the right walls. Interior walls that stay dry, a suitable washable or breathable paper, and a properly prepared wall make it last. Damp outside walls are the main exception.
Vinyl and good non-woven papers cope best. Vinyl wipes clean; non-woven breathes. Avoid silk, grasscloth and uncoated papers in busy or damp rooms.
It can, if the wall is damp or the room stays sealed. Good preparation, airing on dry days and a check when the villa reopens prevent most problems.
Yes. We help choose the paper, check and prepare the wall, and hang it.
On one or two feature walls, yes — choose a washable vinyl so marks wipe off between guests. Avoid papering walls that luggage, chairs or wet towels regularly rub against.
