Sea-Facing Penthouse · Sofas
A penthouse sofa faces the view, which means it faces the sun. It also has to get up a lift or a stair before anyone sits on it.

Avoid: Anything you cannot clean in place, on a piece used every day. Rub count is one number among several — weave, colour-fastness and how a fabric handles humidity matter as much. We bring samples to see in your room.
In short
Choose fade-resistant fabrics — solution-dyed acrylics and performance weaves — for any sofa that sits in front of sea-facing glass, and avoid dark leather in direct sun. Check the lift, stair and door sizes before you design; a modular or sectional sofa is often the only way into a top-floor apartment. Use outdoor-rated sofas on the terrace.
What your penthouse asks of sofas

We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
In front of west-facing glass, a sofa can get several hours of direct sun a day. Solution-dyed acrylics and good performance fabrics resist fading far better than cotton, linen or ordinary dyed polyester. Mid-tones fade less visibly than deep colours; navy and black show a sun-bleached seat within a season.
Even with good fabric, use the sunscreen blinds in the afternoon. Protecting the sofa from direct sun is easier than replacing the covers.
Leather near sea-facing glass dries, cracks and fades in direct sun, and dark leather gets uncomfortably hot by afternoon. If you want leather, keep it out of the sun's path or in an air-conditioned den away from the glass.
The natural instinct is to push the sofa against the glass, facing into the room — which turns everyone's back on the view. Instead, place the main sofa facing the sea, a metre or two back from the glass, so it sits in softened light behind the sheer rather than in the full sun.
A low back keeps the view open from the rest of the apartment. In open-plan penthouses, a sofa with a finished back can float in the room and still look good from the kitchen and dining area.
Measure the lift car — width, depth, height and the diagonal — the stair turns and every door on the route. If a large sofa won't fit, a sectional or a sofa built in parts that join on site solves it. This check belongs at the start, not on delivery day.
Terrace furniture on a high floor faces sun, salt, wind and rain. Use outdoor sofas with quick-dry foam and outdoor fabrics, and frames in aluminium, treated timber or synthetic weave. Store cushions or cover them in the monsoon.
Wind matters too. Light frames and loose cushions can shift or lift in a squall on an exposed terrace; heavier frames and cushions tied to the base stay put.
In Goa
Salt settles on upholstery and attracts moisture. Vacuum sofas regularly and have them cleaned after the monsoon. In a closed apartment, keep air moving and use breathable covers.
On the terrace, bring cushions in or store them dry when heavy rain is forecast. Outdoor fabrics dry quickly, but foam that stays wet for days can develop mould.

FAQ
Solution-dyed acrylics and performance fabrics. They resist fading in strong sun and cope with salt and humidity.
We check the lift, stairs and doors first. If space is tight, a sectional or a sofa built in parts that join on site is the answer.
Not in direct sun. Leather fades, dries and gets hot. Keep it away from the glass or choose fabric.
Yes — outdoor sofas and cushions designed for sun, rain and salt air.
Choose solution-dyed fabric, place the sofa back from the glass, and lower the sunscreen blinds in the afternoon. All three together make the biggest difference.
