One papered wall gives a child's room its personality — a jungle, a map, a sky of stars — and a scrubbable paper means the inevitable felt-pen artwork comes off.

In short
Paper one wall, not four, in a washable vinyl or non-woven paper, and choose a design that can live through a few birthdays. Pick an internal wall that stays dry in the monsoon, keep the paper away from the bed head if the child picks at edges, and ask about low-odour pastes and papers so the room can be used again quickly.
What your child's room asks of wallpaper

We bring samples to your home, hold them to your light and measure every opening — anywhere in North or South Goa.
The wall behind the bed or opposite it is the classic choice — the child sees it last thing at night and first in the morning. An internal wall is safer than an external one in Goa because it stays dry through the rains.
If the child is young and likes to pick at edges, consider the wall opposite the bed rather than directly beside it, so the seams aren't at fingertip height all night.
Forests, oceans, maps, stars and soft geometrics suit a toddler and still work for a ten-year-old. Character papers delight for a year or two, then become a project to remove. If you want a theme, put it at child height in decals or framed prints, and keep the paper itself more timeless.
Murals are the most dramatic option: one continuous scene across a whole wall. Measure carefully, because a mural is sized to the wall and the composition needs to sit around the bed, windows and doors.
Vinyl and coated non-woven papers can be wiped with a damp cloth; some can be gently scrubbed. Check the washability rating on the sample before choosing. Matte finishes hide fingerprints better than gloss.
In a room where toys get thrown, the lower part of the wall takes the knocks. A painted or panelled dado below and paper above is practical and looks good.
Plan the work for the dry season, after the walls have dried out from the monsoon, and let the room air for a day or two after hanging before the child sleeps there again.
School holidays in Goa often fall in the hottest months, when the house is full; papering a child's room is easier to fit in while they're at school, or staying with grandparents for a few days.
In Goa
A child's room that's air-conditioned at night and shut up during the day can trap humidity against the walls. Air the room daily during the monsoon, keep furniture a little away from external walls, and watch for lifting seams.
Fix seepage before papering. A paper hung on a damp laterite wall will bubble and grow mould regardless of quality.
