For owners of second homes, villas and seasonal lets who are not in goa year-round
A property that sits closed from June to September has no airflow, and humidity collects and condenses into the softest thing in the room. This is the most destructive thing that happens to soft furnishings anywhere in Goa, and it is almost entirely preventable.
Annual cycle. Collection April or May, rehang October. Booked a year in advance so the dates are held.
It is preventable by taking the curtains down, which sounds simple and in practice depends on a caretaker doing it correctly, the same way, every year, while you are somewhere else. The cost of it being done wrong once exceeds several years of having it done properly.
This is an annual programme rather than a job. We collect in April or May, store everything flat and ventilated in the workshop, carry out any repairs while we have it, and rehang in October before the season starts.

Many do, and where it is done properly it works. The difficulty is consistency — caretakers change, the reasoning was never explained, and fabric gets sealed in plastic bags, which recreates the same humid conditions inside a smaller container. One bad year costs more than several years of the programme.
We do it while the pieces are with us over the monsoon, which is when the workshop is quiet and you are not waiting on a room. It is considerably cheaper than a separate call-out in October when everyone in Goa wants work done at once.
Yes. A good proportion of the programme is properties where someone else made the curtains, or where they came with the house. We assess the condition on first collection and tell you honestly what has life left in it.
That is the normal case and the reason the service exists. We coordinate with your caretaker or property manager, and the written condition report each year means you can see what was done without being there.
